LAYING DOWN THE LAWS ... Tom Rees

Tom's thumbs-up to laws

TOM REES says England are ready to rock with rugby’s latest rule changes.

New laws are already used in the Southern Hemisphere.

They include choosing your own numbers at a lineout, a five-metre offside line at scrums and allowing driving mauls to be pulled down.

Martin Johnson’s side face Pacific Islands, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand this autumn.

And Wasps flanker Rees, 23, said: “It’s not as if we are being asked to re-invent the wheel.

“Once the Guinness Premiership starts on September 6, players will get to grips with things.”
