TALKS ... David Villa

Spurs braced for Villa snub

DAVID VILLA is set to snub a move to Tottenham by signing a lucrative new deal at Valencia.

The Spanish hitman is rated at £32million after a stunning Euro 2008.

Villa was set for a move to the Premier League but his club claim they are close to securing his future, along with that of Liverpool target David Silva.

Valencia president Fernando Gomez said: “Villa’s agent has been here and we held the same discussions with him as we had on Tuesday with Silva.

“We want the player to stay here and tomorrow we’re going to continue the discussions.

“Both players are very close to staying.”

Villa’s agent Jose Luis Tamargo revealed the star was happy with the initial talks.

He said: “It’s been a satisfactory first meeting and we’ve got everyone seeing our way of thinking.

“All I can say is that we are all in the same boat, Villa and Valencia.

“David Villa is a Valencia player, he has a contract and he feels an emotional attachment to the club.

“He’s happy at Valencia and always has been and I hope he continues to be for many more years.”
